Flying Across Canada – Day 6 – Jamestown ND to Prairie du Chien Wisonsin – Photos and a Video

Day 6 takes us from Jamestown, North Dakota through Willmar, Montana to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin for night. Prairie du Chien (French for Prairie Dog) is a charming little town with a beautiful historic district along the Mississippi.

There are many idyllic farmsteads like this one to be found in the SE corner of North Dakota.
The smoke-haze made everything in Willmar, Montana look reddish orange.
Almost all the farmland in Montana has these green “veins” on them. We can’t figure out if they are for drainage or irrigation or what. Do you know?

At the St Feriole Island Park (and historic area) you’ll find the 1800’s Dousman House, which is now a wedding venue.

They parked a tank on the flower bed to discourage the deer. Just kidding. This is the Veteran’s Memorial at PDC.
Janine has wanted to visit a Piggly Wiggly since reading about one in a Stephen King novel. We picked our hotel partly because this was nearby.
The folks at Prairie du Chien have a sense of humour.
